Second Wine: Lacoste Borie
The history of Grand-Puy-Lacoste fascinates in more ways than one. It is part of a family saga that dates back to the XNUMXth century.
The name of Grand-Puy comes from the old expression "puy" which means "mound, small height", and this terroir is already mentioned in documents dating from the Middle Ages. Indeed the vineyard extends over one of the hilltops where the first growths of the Médoc were born. Since the 1920th century, the cru has been passed down from generation to generation and, through alliances between families, it remained within the same descendants until 1978, before resuming a family destiny with the Borie in XNUMX.

CHASSE SPLEEN Castle 2020
Moulis in Red Medoc
Grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot
Second Wine The Spleen Hunting Hermitage, The Spleen Hunting Oratory.
Comments of the Castle
Château Chasse-Spleen is located in Moulis-en-Médoc, it is a cru bourgeois, described by many amateurs as exceptional. With its famous surname, Château Chasse-Spleen makes the quality of Moulis wines resonate all over the planet. When still young, the great Château wine offers a seductive bouquet shared between pepper, black cherries and red fruits, while as it ages, plum and cocoa take over. Its balanced palate, its melted tannins and its great elegance are the perfect remedy to chase away Spleen.
History of the Château
The estate built by Mr Gressier in 1720, on the road leading to Pauillac, is called Grand Poujeaux. A century later, the property splits into two, the first castle is called Poujeaux-Gressier, like its founder, and the second Poujeaux Castaing which his daughter Lucrèce will inherit. Lucrèce's daughter-in-law, Rosa Ferrière, takes the reins of the estate when her husband dies. She remembers the legend behind the illustrious name that will soon be that of the estate: Chasse Spleen. His great-grandfather had welcomed and watered the famous English poet Lord Byron, the latter would then have complimented this wine which had no equal to chase away the "spleen". This is why Rosa will choose this unusual name for its ability to mark the spirits. Chasse Spleen was bought in 1912 by the Segnitz family, wine merchants in Bremen. Under their aegis, this Moulis experienced a boom in notoriety in North Germany. Two years later, war broke out, and at its end, as property belonging to the enemy, Chasse-Spleen was confiscated.
In 1922, Prosper Lahary bought Château Chasse-Spleen. With its forest properties in the Landes, he created the first underground cellar in the Médoc in 1964, the Chasse Spleen was then considered the first of the bourgeois crus, judged moreover to be exceptional in 1919 during a classification which, alas, will never be registered in the Official Journal. In 1976, the Merlaut family, already owners of castles and traders, bought the castle. Within the Merlaut group, which has illustrious properties such as Château Gruaud Larose, Château Chasse-Spleen continues its qualitative ascent.
Céline Villars-Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet, are currently the owner of Château Chasse-Spleen.
Corbières The Baroness Les Lanes 2020 Lignières Family
The history of the Lignères family is that of doctors who have wine in their veins! The succession of André, general practitioner and Suzette, pharmacist, was ensured by their children, Jean, village doctor like his father in Moux, and his wife Anne, Paul, dentist, and, Geneviève, pharmacist-biologist. The Lignères family's links with the world of wine date back to the 16th century in the villages of Fontcouverte and Moux. Louis Lignères founded the Maison de Vins in 1890 and it was in 1957 that Suzette and André Lignères acquired La Baronne.
A team of enthusiasts at the service of the Montagne d'Alaric terroir. In the wines of La Baronne, they try to translate this respect and this passion, by practicing an organic culture located in value the soil of this privileged region of Languedoc - Roussillon.
At La Baronne, the traditional grape varieties of Languedoc have always been honored... but the Lignères family has a particular penchant for Carignan. Magnifying the expression, transmitting the finesse and elegance of this emblematic grape variety of the region in the wines is a constant challenge.
