Cantemerle 2021 Haut Médoc 75cl

Chateau Cantemerle  5th Cru Classé Médoc Red

Grapes 50% Cabernet Sauvignon 40% Merlot 5% Cabernet Franc 5% Petit Verdot

Classified Cru in 1855, Château Cantemerle extends its vineyard over plots of fine gravel bordering the Gironde estuary.

In the Middle Ages, Château Cantemerle was part of the line of fortifications which defended the banks of the Médoc, about a kilometer from the current castle. A century later, Aquitaine having become English, we find a Lord of Cantemerle, fighting alongside King Henry III of England. The first traces of wine production on the estate were found as early as 1354: the Lord of Cantemerle paid the tithe with a barrel of Clairet! On August 20, 1579, Jean de Villeneuve purchased the noble houses of Cantemerle. He married Antoinette de Durfort, from the house of Duras and Blanquefort and it is through this alliance that, since the year 1600, the Villeneuve de Cantemerle have been called Villeneuve de Durfort. Théophile-Jean Dubos, took over the estate in 1892, with the help of his two sons Pierre and Bernard. When Pierre Dubos died in 1962, his great nephew Bertrand Clauzel became the sole manager and remained so until the sale of the estate in 1981 to the Mutuelles d'Assurance du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics.

cotes du rhone the two albion castle saint cosme 2015 75cl

COTES DU RHONE THE TWO ALBION CHATEAU DE SAINT COSME 2020

Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre co-fermented. Whole harvest. Six weeks vatting. Clay slopes (old alluvium), calcareous marls, rolled pebbles. Aged in wooden vats (truncated) and in concrete vats.
When you're a winegrower, the most difficult thing is to do things as simply as possible, without seeming to touch anything. This approach requires good experience, a sense of anticipation and a thorough knowledge of your discipline. Les deux Albions is our “think tank” for the co-fermentation of southern grape varieties. Each year a small quantity of grapes is dedicated to experiments which, in general, bring us back to what my father did, who had already experimented a lot himself. When you're a young winemaker, you try to demonstrate your ability to make good wine and that's the normal course of things, but it's much more interesting to “guide” the grapes rather than impose yourself on them. That's what my dad did and I think he was right.

JEAN FAURE 2018 75 CL
Château JEAN FAURE 2018 SAINT EMILION GRAND CRU CLASS

A historic premier cru, appearing in the middle of the 18th century on the first cartography of the great Bordeaux terroirs, Château Jean Faure has survived the ages with consistency. Formerly attached to Figeac, Jean Faure has not changed in area since the beginning of the 19th century.

Château Jean Faure claims more than 50% Cabernet-franc. Unique grape variety in Saint-Émilion but very close to that of the mythical vintages of Cheval Blanc and Figeac. This composition: 50% Cabernet Franc, 45% Merlot and 5% Malbec inclines the cru towards elegance and freshness.

Historic 18 hectare vineyard, CHÂTEAU JEAN FAURE is rooted in a magnificent terroir of clay and iron dross composed of a dominant Cabernet Franc (50%). Xavier Choné, Agricultural engineer and Doctor of Oenology, carried out a large-scale pedological study on the soil of Château Jean Faure by having 30 surveys carried out. It summarizes the geology and the relief of the vineyard of Château Jean Faure: “80% of the surface of the vineyard of Château Jean Faure presents a very clayey subsoil which appears from 30 to 100 cm in depth. The roots can go down to 150 to 200 cm deep.

KNIGHT DOMAIN 2019 75 CL
DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER 2019
Pessac Léognan Rouge
Grapes: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc

Domain Details
Located on the edge of the sandy plateau of the Landes, to the west, and the historic vineyard of Graves, which occupies the eastern part of the land, on the banks of the Garonne, the estate only affirms its viticultural vocation in the second half of the XNIXXth century. In 19, Arnaud Ricard and his son Jean, both coopers, acquired the farm which still bears the old Gascon name of "Chivaley". It is in fact Jean Ricard who, at the death of his father, three years later, sensing the exceptional party that could be drawn from the terroir of Chevalier, will be the real creator of the vineyard estate. On the death of Jean Ricard Gabriel Beaumartin, his son-in-law, succeeds him at the head of the farm and it is he who will really establish the reputation of the estate's wine. In 1865, after the death of Gabriel Beaumartin, his son-in-law, Jean Ricard, inherits the estate. But this one does not have a big interest in the field, it is finally his son, Jean, who takes the domain in hand, then only aged 1940 years. Thanks to him the domain gains in notoriety and technicality and propels the domain alongside the biggest ones. And from 21, Olivier Bernard will be the one to continue the work undertaken a hundred and twenty years ago.

Château PICHON COMTESSE DE LALANDE 2019
2nd Classified Growth Pauillac Red
Grapes  Cabernet Sauvignon - Cabernet Franc - Merlot - Petit Verdot in different proportions depending on the vintage
Second Wine: The Countess' reserve

Details Domain
In the past, the Médoc was described as a wild and solitary region, an ungrateful and hostile land, invaded by marshes. The 1855th century will redraw the landscape when enterprising men will create the great wine properties of modern Médoc. The archives show the creation of the estate by Pierre de Mazure de Rauzan, a great name in the history of Bordeaux wines. It was during the marriage of his only daughter Thérèse to Jacques de Pichon-Longueville that the vineyard took its name. In the 2th century, the descendant of Pichon-Longueville, Virginie, married Count Henri de Lalande, and took over the management of the estate, which would henceforth take the name of Comtesse de Lalande. Thanks to her passion for wine, during the classification carried out under Napoleon III in 1925, she allowed Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande to reach the rank of XNUMXnd classified growth. However, after the First World War, the vineyard was transferred to Edouard and Louis Miailhe in XNUMX. It is now the daughter of Edouard Miailhe, owner and administrator of the chateau, who takes over the work of the Countess with a masterful hand.
The harvest is done manually. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with a heating and cooling system. The vatting time varies between 18 and 24 days depending on the year. After blending, the wine is put in new oak barrels (50%) for 18 to 22 months.
Terroir
South of Pauillac. Günz gravel on clay, with the presence of ferruginous sheets.

In 2007 Madame de Lencquesaing made the courageous decision to pass on her château to the Champagne house Louis Roederer. A decision that allows the estate to pursue its ambition of prestige and excellence.
