Burgundy Pinot Noir René Bouvier 2021 75cl

Burgundy Pinot Noir René Bouvier 2021 75cl

Winemaker at Gevrey Chambertin

The René Bouvier estate is a family house created in 1910 by the grandfather of Bernard Bouvier, current master on board with his wife. The farm covers 13 hectares in pinot noir and 4 in chardonnay for a total of 18 appellations in Burgundy , Côtes-de-Nuits-Villages , Fixin , Marsannay et Gevrey-Chambertin , including Premiers and Grands Crus.

The vineyard is managed in sustainable agriculture and is the subject of a conversion to organic farming, with tillage, disbudding, green harvesting, harvesting and manual sorting. In 2006, the estate inaugurated a new 1 m² vat room, the care taken in vinification and aging making it a sure value in the Burgundy .

When we ask Bernard Bouvier what a good wine is, he replies that "it's a wine that makes you salivate, that makes you want to finish the bottle you have uncorked." Far from marketing, he prefers to evoke the expression of vintages and terroirs, and rejects a certain standardization of wines. This search for quality associated with respect for the terroir defines the Bouvier touch: round and powerful wines with perfectly tamed tannins.

Details Domain

The whole history of this castle is linked to the passion that Baron Philippe de Rothschild devoted to it from the age of 20. In 1853, Nathaniel de Rothschild bought the Brane Mouton vineyard and immediately renamed it Mouton Rothschild. But the property was of little interest to the family until the arrival of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1922. It is indeed thanks to him that the sheep became what it is today. With his strength of character and his sense of innovation, he was to be the initiator of "integral bottling at the chateau", and an avant-garde with the creation of labels specific to the property by famous painters (Miro, Chagall, Braque, Picasso, Delvaux...). His last challenge was to raise Mouton Rothschild to the rank of Premier Cru Classé in 1973 after 20 years of fighting. Today, it is the worthy heiress, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, who is dedicated to respecting the Mouton Rothschild motto “First I am, second I was, Mouton never changes”.

Minervois Roc du Piere Domaine de Courbissac 2019 75cl
Minervois Roc du Piere Domaine de Courbissac 2019 75cl

Reinhard Brundig, tireless ambassador of the 7th art, is a mad wine lover. He bought Courbissac in 2002, he dreams of making wine, he is under the spell of this isolated place lost in the scrubland and the pines. He is renovating the cellar , buys the first tuns and begins to vinify the different parcels of Courbissac.
The construction is slow, you have to review the copy several times, Courbissac cannot be tamed so easily.

In 2013, he sought to renew his style, he wanted fresher, more elegant wines, and it was in November 2013 that he met Brunnhilde Claux.

At the age of 30, Brunnhilde takes over the technical part of the estate, sets up a gentle vinification, in whole bunches.

The aging is more restrained, the wines are more supple, a new page is being written for Courbissac.
And Courbissac surrenders. The wines relax, the freshness wins, a turning point begins in Courbissac.

The domain is exploited on 15 hectares of vines.

Roc du pière comes from a region called piègne or pière in the local patois.
This terroir is made up of 2 plots on either side of the estate.

Grape variety 50% Syrah 50% Mourvèdre

The stone, the rockery characterizes this cru, and naturally reveals a dense, powerful wine with spicy characteristics.
The stone is a terroir of great strength, depth and unlimited density. It reveals the power and balance of Minervois wines.

Gigondas Hominis Fides Château de Saint Cosme 2021 75cl
Gigondas Hominis Fides Castle of Saint Cosimo 2021

Very old grenache planted on Miocene limestone sands at a place called "Hominis Fides". Whole harvest. Twelve month aging: 20% in new pieces - 50% in pieces of one wine - 30% in pieces of two and three wines.

The sands of Miocene are, in Gigondas as in the rest of the valley of the Rhone, a geological event posterior to the great uprising of the lace of Montmirail. When the Alps rise, they, like a sheet of paper that we tilt, "open" the Rhone Valley, allowing the sea to engulf itself like a snake finding its way. The sea then covers Lyon, circling the Alpine arc; the Luberon and the Ventoux are only islands, prehistoric fish frolic in the chapel of Saint Cosme and ammonites accumulate in phenomenal quantities. At this time, sands are deposited in our region: we find them in many sites in the Southern Rhone Valley: in the Uchaux massif, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas ... Much later, the small ants that we decide to grow vitis vinifera on these sands, and it turns out that the grenache finds there an amazing field of expression. The old Grenache vine in the Miocene sands is the aromatic finesse, the elegant texture, the depth in the mouth. When the wine ages, it takes notes of Morey Saint Denis pinot: peony and small red berries. What a great idea to have planted at the dawn of the twentieth century, 12 years before the Great War, this vineyard that is always with us.

Gigondas le Claux Château de Saint Cosme 2018 75 cl
Castle of Saint Cosme "The Claux" - Red Gigondas 2018

Very old Grenache planted at a place called “Le Claux”. Whole harvest. Limestone marls from the Miocene, in the Font des Papes alluvial cone. Aged for twelve months: 20% in new barrels - 50% in one-wine barrels - 30% in two-wine barrels.
In old French, "Clos" was written "Claux". Just as the first name Côme was written Cosme until the XNUMXth century. You will have noticed that we like the old writing of the words, before the spelling remotivation due to time distorts them a little. A Claux, which has become "Clos" in most French vineyards, was originally written Claus, Clausas, Clausis, Clauzis and designated a closed place, closed, from the Latin Clausum for "closed". A vine can be "enclosed" by a wall, a river, the sea, a lake or a cliff. It is indeed a long cliff that closes our “Claux”: this parcel therefore draws its etymological origin from the mists of time. The names of localities always mean something if we take the trouble to search a bit. I have a particular affection for Claux,
