Creator of spirits for more than 150 years, the Domaine du Chêne is a family house founded in 1865 by Jean Baptiste Doussoux.

The Domaine du Chêne is located in Saint Palais de Phiolin, in the heart of Charente Maritime in the New Aquitaine region. 
 The story begins in 1865 when Jean-Baptiste Doussoux bought his first still, determined to distil his wines and raise his Cognac brandies in order to control their quality and authenticity.
Distillation, somewhat abandoned during the war, was restarted by Jean Doussoux, heir to the Domaine, in 1946. The first Pineau des Charentes were produced from 1947.
It was in this dynamic that in 1993, Jean Doussoux and Jean-Marie Baillif joined forces and created the brand as we know it today, “Domaine du Chêne”. They also develop the vineyard and diversify the already very rich grape varieties. The vineyard covers just over 90 hectares.

The Chichibu distillery was born in 2008 from the passion and the will of Ichiro Akuto  to prolong the history of his family of producers of sake and shochu since the 17th century. But his passion and know-how in whiskey production were passed on to him directly by his grandfather, founder in 1941 of the now legendary Hanyu distillery, now closed, and whose last casks are stored and bottled. in Chichibu.

After working for Suntory,  Ichiro Akuto  decides to found his own whiskey distillery, and embarks on a very ambitious project; produce a 100% Japanese whiskey one day, from the barley to the wood of the cask. For this he created the company Venture Whiskey in charge of the distribution of the Ichiro's Malt brand.

Located in the heart of a mountainous region of Saitama Prefecture in the village of Chichibu, the distillery is just under 2 hours by train from central Tokyo, and enjoys a hot and muggy climate in summer, and cold and dry in winter. It is these great differences in temperature that would be, among other things, at the origin of the astonishing maturity of the young whiskeys of the distillery.

Black art is unpeated, distilled and aged on Islay.
Kept secret, the type of cask is only known by Adam. Bottled brut from cask at an alcohol volume of 48,4% Vintage 1992, 24 years old is the 5th edition of a cult and innovative series in terms of exploration of barrels.

It takes time to decipher the mysteries offered by Black Art 5. The key may be to let your hand warm the glass. Then you will discover notes of cherries, mango, apricots, quetsches, a little orange, wrapped in a cover of brown sugar, vanilla and dried figs.
