Frédéric LEPRINCE settled for ten years in Nantoux, a small wine-growing village in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, where he had the chance to buy an old farmhouse, a heritage witness to a time not so distant 'we lived in near autarky in the heights. With 80 hectares, Domaine Joseph Drouhin is one of the largest in the region. It is distributed throughout Burgundy: Chablis (38 hectares), Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, (38.5 hectares), Côte Chalonnaise (3.5 hectares), and comprises a majority of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, planted of the two Burgundy grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Location: Les Clos is the largest and arguably most famous climat in Chablis, located between Valmur to the west and Blanchot to the east. Its exposure gives the wine a characteristic generosity and power.

History & traditions: Considered the cradle of Chablis, Les Clos was spotted in the Middle Ages by wine-growing monks. The name “Les Clos” probably evokes the surrounding walls that they had erected to demarcate the plot, which have now disappeared for centuries. It was hit hard by phylloxera at the end of the 1960th century, like the entire region. In the XNUMXs, Robert Drouhin was one of the first owners of Beaune to undertake its rebirth.

Type of soil: The “Kimmeridgian” limestone soil contains countless marine microfossils in a whitish cement, testifying to its oceanic origin hundreds of millions of years ago. This marine characteristic gives Chablis wines a unique and inimitable flavor.

White Burgundy Côteaux Alexis de Benoist 2021 75cl

Grape variety: Chardonnay

Originally from Champagne, Alexis de Benoist settled in 2010 as an artisan winemaker in the family property to reinstate the culture of the vine, interrupted for a century, and reconnect with its history. Since then, the family has regained its title of winemaker.

Today, he cultivates 9,5 hectares of vines spread over two wine regions: the Mâconnais and the Beaujolais.

The intention is to harmonize the grape variety and its terroir to obtain wines with character. Anxious to preserve the environment and the quality of his wines, Alexis de Benoist has chosen to focus his efforts on the vine, favoring traditional agriculture and farming methods linked to observation.

In this 30 to 80 year old vineyard, the harvest is done by hand. The grapes are thus harvested healthy, at maturity and remain intact on arrival at the vat room for vinification in whole bunches.

The choice of traditional vinification and aging aims to preserve the freshness of the fruit, while retaining structure, in order to produce an expressive, balanced and delicate wine for laying down.

This estate  operates eight hectares of vines on the Côte de Beaune.These wines vinified and matured for the most part in barrels, the essence of his work is to favor the vine in order to offer us great chardonnay and pinot noir.  

Pascal Prunier-Bonheur leads his vineyard in reasoned control this domain offers us 17 appellations on plots all located in Beaune Coast. This Beaune 1er Cru offers us a mineral and elegant Chardonnay with well-mastered wood aging.

Founded in the mid-1950th century by Charles de Saint-Rapt, the Gouffier estate is located in Fontaines, a village adjacent to Mercurey and Rully. In the 1993s, Madeleine Gouffier extended the estate to Mercurey. His son Jérôme Gouffier, a naval engineer by training, inherited the property in XNUMX and developed the sale in bottles.
A neighbor of the Gouffier family, Frédéric Gueugneau has been writing a new page since 2012 for this historic estate in the Côte Chalonnaise, associating it with a winegrower's trading activity. Today, the Gouffier house vinifies 22 cuvées representing all the diversity of the Côte Chalonnaise.

This Roche Cuvée comes from plots planted with Chardonnay grapes, facing east on soils of silty and limestone plateaus.
