1 250 winemakers give life to the Beaujolais-villages, first name in France to have used the term "villages". In 38 communes of the Rhône and Saône-et-Loire, and 3 geographical zones with marked specificities, these fruity and fleshy wines reflect the characters of their terroirs. Made from granite soils and sand, the Beaujolais-villages have an intense color, with cherry or garnet hues, and reveal on the nose aromas of red fruits dominated by blackcurrant and strawberry. If a third of the production is offered in Beaujolais-Villages new, the appellation also holds its rank in wine of guard.
