PULIGNY MONTRACHET 1ER CRU CHAMP CANET ETIENNE SAUZET 2020

Winegrower in Puligny Montrachet

Domain Comments

The vinification and aging of the wines are adapted to each vintage and we pay the same attention from Grands Crus to Burgundy. The grapes are pressed whole in a pneumatic press for more than 2 hours. The musts are then cooled for 24 hours before settling. These two operations are essential and decisive.

The musts will be put in oak barrels where the alcoholic fermentation will take place which is monitored daily by taking densities and temperatures. Depending on the vintage, it can last from 2 weeks to a few months.

We can consider that the breeding itself begins after this fermentation.
Details Domain

Etienne SAUZET was born in 1903. It is after a legacy of a few acres of vineyards that he created his own farm. Over the years, he acquires vineyards until the estate covers just over 12 hectares to 1950.
Since his death, in 1975, it is his little girl Jeanine, and her husband Gérard Boudot, who assume the direction of the estate. In 1991, following an estate distribution, the estate has been reduced to just under 9 hectares.
To offset this reduction, purchases of grapes are made from some good winemakers of the appellation.

The house Etienne SAUZET relies, above all, on his domain as owner-harvester, the buying part of grapes being only a supplement.

Since the vintage 2000, Emilie, the daughter of Gerard and Jeanine works with them. Her husband, Benoît RIFFAULT, joined them in 2002.

The range of wines ranges from white Burgundy to Montrachet, Bâtard Montrachet, Biennets Bâtard Montrachet and no less than 6 Premiers Crus among the most prestigious. The fine and precise Puligny Montrachet Village is every year among the references of the appellation.

BURGUNDY CHARDONNAY FREDERIC LEPRINCE 2021 75CL
BURGUNDY CHARDONNAY FREDERIC LEPRINCE 2021

After a scientific training in biology, his winegrowing history begins with the chance of encounters, according to the internships and the various jobs he has held. Frédéric LEPRINCE knew that one day he would have a business of his own, but first he had to learn, discover, observe and do.

For about twenty years, he discovered all the facets of the profession. Vineyard work in Beaujolais vintages, the art of Bordeaux blend, purchase of grapes and vinification from great terroirs in Burgundy ... all these moments will be decisive in that each will bring their stone to their House, step by step.

Still marked by their spirit and their know-how, here are some decisive meetings of its first life.

Frédéric LEPRINCE settled for ten years in Nantoux, a small wine-growing village in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, where he had the chance to buy an old farmhouse, a heritage witness to a time not so distant 'we lived in near autarky in the heights. A barn transformed into a cellar, a cool cellar which was no doubt used to store vegetables, an old bread oven that warms the body and provides a little comfort after a hard day of harvesting ...

SIDE OF NIGHTS VILLAGES WHITE THE MONTS OF BONCOURT DOMAINE ARNAUD CHOPIN 2020

Winegrower in Nuits Saint Georges

Le Chopin Estate produces white and red wines from the Coast of Nights, including Nights Saint Greorges, always balanced and powerful.

Arnaud Chopin and his brother Alban have taken over the destiny of the family estate in Comblanchien for several years. This young and dynamic recovery has brought its share of changes with intense work in the vineyard, a considerable drop in yields and very careful breeding. So many assets that have given their dimension to the wines of this domain. These are rich and deep, powerful and balanced. They are cut for keeping, but by their structure, they can be appreciated young.

CHABLIS GRAND CRU LES CLOS 2018 DOMAINE GARNIER & FILS 75CL
CHABLIS GRAND CRU LES CLOS 2018 DOMAINE GARNIER & FILS

They are two brothers united by the same passion for wine. It is the freedom to free oneself from the codes of the appellation while respecting the identity of each of our terroirs. The fraternity that unites the 8 people who work on our operation aims to be the reflection of sharing around a glass of our Chablis, large and small ...
They invested in a sorting table which is used both for manual harvesting and for mechanical harvesting. This "big plus" allows you to put only "the cream of the grapes" in the cuvées even if this causes an additional cost of labor.

SAINT ROMAIN WHITE 2018 CHRISTOPHE BUISSON

Christophe BUISSON was to be a mason like his father and his brother, he decided to leave the family business and enter the world of wine by starting as a broker, while training at the cfppa in Beaune. After obtaining his diplomas, he launched himself in 1996 by renting a few plots of vines.

it gradually takes over plots in different appellations around Saint-Romain.

MEURSAULT 1ER CRU GOLD DROP DOMAIN HENRI DARNAT 2018 75CL

MEURSAULT 1ER CRU GOLD DROP DOMAIN HENRI DARNAT 2018

It is in 2000 that Mr. DARNAT took back with his wife the domain exploited by his family since the middle of the 19eme century.

And it is together that they are at the service of their land and their wines. As worthy successors of their ancestors, the vines are worked by hand, without chemical fertilizers or weedkillers.

Nothing like a good plowing that keeps the soil alive and healthy, and that's why the word terroir makes sense.

Each plot, according to its terroir, its climate, its exposure, gives the wines subtle and different aromas. And it is this diversity, preserved by dynamic soils, so typical of Burgundy, that makes Chardonnay and Pinot so tasty.

The vinification philosophy is that of common sense and patience. Common sense and patience is the courage to wait ...

Wait until the grapes are ripe before harvesting them, even if the weather is scary…?
Wait, let the wine be done, at its own pace, in its cask, do not rush it, let it live and grow to be at its peak on our tables ...
To wait is the experience ...
To wait, it is frequent and thorough tastings of casks ...
To wait is the joy of finally being able to taste them ...

COTEAUX BOURGUIGNONS WHITE JEAN PIERRE GUYON 2017 75CL
COTEAUX BURGUIGNONS BLANC JEAN PIERRE GUYON 2017

The DOMAINE GUYON scea is located in the town of Vosne Romanée.

The estate has been geared towards organic viticulture since the 2000s. To provide transparency in viticulture and winemaking techniques, the estate entered into an Ecocert accreditation process in 2009 and obtained accreditation in 2012 .

The family estate was born before the war, his grandfather and his father successively and wisely led it until his brother and himself took charge of it in the 1990s. The man knows each of his vines, often very old, on the end of his secateurs. Jean pierre guyon took over the operation on his own.

His ambition is to return to what he considers the old way of doing things: that is to say winemaking with most of the whole bunches; no addition of sulfur, if possible, until the spring following harvest.

Entonnage after pressing and brief passage in vat. Slow vinification according to the temperatures of the seasons.

SANTENAY BEAUREGARD 1ER CRU 2016 FIELD OF THE CELLIER TO THE MONKS 75CL
SANTENAY BEAUREGARD 1ER CRU 2016 DOMAINE DU CELLIER AUX MOINES

The Cellier aux Moines is made up of a set of historic buildings dating from 1130, a vast Cistercian cellar, a house and its outbuildings, which dominate Givry and have stood the test of time. It was the vineyard of the Monks of the Abbey of La Ferté for seven centuries, until the French Revolution. Then it was the property of the same family for two centuries, before being acquired and restored in 2004 by Philippe and Catherine PASCAL and their three children, Camille, Marguerite and Alexis.
The Domaine du Cellier aux Moines is one of the oldest wine estates in Burgundy. Established around 1130 in Givry by Cistercian monks, it is made up of a Cellar, always surrounded by its Clos de vignes for nine centuries.
The Clos du Cellier aux Moines is a Premier Cru Classé of Givry, today covering 13 hectares, as in the time of the Monks. The Domaine du Cellier aux Moines has 5 hectares, perfectly exposed in the middle and top of the hill, surrounding the historic Cellar. Enclosed above the Clos du Cellier, is another tiny 27-acre enclosure surrounded by very thick walls, forgotten since the phylloxera crisis. It was replanted in 2010 and named Clos Pascal.

Beautiful eyes, a first vintage remarkably well exposed to the south-east, and with, as its name indicates, a magnificent point of view on the village of Santenay, towards Chassagne.
