Domaine Genoux, Château de Mérande, an area of 12 hectares
Seven hectares are reserved for Mondeuse, certain old vines of which are more than half a century old produce in limited quantities a wine which expresses all the richness and typicity of Cru Arbin.
Two hectares are planted with Roussanne at the foot of the Rocher “le Grand Blanc”, the other great terroir of Bergeron.
A hectare and a half, on the glacial moraines of Mérande, is planted in Altesse and produces Roussette de Savoie, the great white wine of Savoy; Gamay, Jacquère and Persan share the few dozen remaining ares.
Since 2000, the vineyard has grown with the re-cultivation of former hillsides, among the most prestigious of the Cru, such as “le Paradis” and “les Terrasses de Lourdens” and in a few years it has become the benchmark of the appellation.
Since 2001, the renovated cellars have been installed at the Château de Mérande, an exceptional residence and emblem, if there is one, the most representative of local history.
André and Daniel after a detour to another profession, one in teaching and the other in nursing, are keen to perpetuate and develop the Domaine while returning to the fundamentals.
A 6th generation is on the march and is preparing to take up the challenge.
