VODKA SQUADRON 303 PEAT 40° 70CL
Squadron 303 vodka takes its name from a squadron of Polish pilots fighting for the Royal Air Force after the lightning invasion of their country in September 1939. Not speaking a word of English, these pilots were banned from missions until what a training flight turns into a real dogfight. During this fight, the Polish pilots shot down such a number of German planes that the RAF decided to entrust them with squadrons. From there, 303 Squadron becomes a legend.
Beyond their aptitude for air combat, these flying aces also have a habit of distilling their own vodka on RAF bases. And to guarantee consumption at the ideal temperature, they do not hesitate to cool their homemade vodka at altitude by placing it in tanks hung under a Spitfire.
Squadron 303 vodka is produced from the King Edward variety, which is rich in starch conducive to the production of fermentable sugars. Its distillation takes place in cuvées in a single pass with a particularly long distillation time. Its founders, all long-time friends, took it to heart to respect the historical origins down to the smallest detail. As such, the unique design of the Squadron 303 vodka bottle is directly inspired by the bottles of RAF pilots. Superb.
To craft 'The Peat Fire', the smoking process that gives peated whiskeys such a distinctive taste was transposed to vodka. It is therefore the potatoes, and not the barley grains which are dried by the peat fire.
