Gaetano Bertani is the great-grandson of one of the two founding brothers of the Bertani family.
Gaetano, and his sons, Giovanni and Guglielmo, uphold the family tradition and philosophy. Currently, Gaetano Bertani's holdings are made up of estates and vineyards in three different valleys of the Territory of Verona - Valpolicella, the Illasi valley and the Valpantena - with two main sites of winemaking activity, including winemaking , aging and bottling at the estate of Colognola ai Colli and at the villa of Negrar, Valpolicella.

The adventure of Cheval des Andes began twenty years ago, on the initiative of Pierre Lurton. The Cheval des Andes vineyard extends over 46 hectares with two complementary terroirs. Located 1070 meters above sea level, the historic Las Compuertas vineyard is located on the left bank of the Rio Mendoza. Old Malbec vines planted in 1929 bring their richness and complexity, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon. To the south, the Altamira vineyard is located at an altitude of 1150 metres. In this zone with a cooler climate, 14 hectares of vines are planted with Malbec vines dating back to 1945. Due to the higher altitude and the significant thermal amplitudes between night and day, the grapes are endowed with tannins of 'great finesse with lovely freshness and floral notes.

Pedro Ximénez grapes are laid out in the sun after harvest until they are practically raisins. After that, the fermentation starts slowly and stops to maintain all the natural sugars. The resulting wine ages for 12 years in contact with the air in Jerez de la Frontera.
